These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Muhūrta: Vedic Calendar application for iOS and the website located at muhurta.shindeaditya.com. By downloading, installing, or accessing Muhūrta, you agree to these Terms.
1. Open Source License & Software Distribution
The Muhūrta application code is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPLv3). You may inspect, review, verify, and redistribute the open-source codebase in accordance with the terms of the GPLv3 license. Distribution through the Apple App Store is additionally subject to the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA).
2. Sacred Chronometry & Informational Disclaimer
Muhūrta calculates astronomical and solar ephemeris metrics (including Sūryodaya, Sūryāsta, Madhyāhna, Tithis, Nakṣatras, and the 30 Vedic Muhūrtas) based on classical treatises (such as the Sūryasiddhānta) combined with modern high-precision celestial mechanics.
- Informational & Cultural Purpose: All calculations, doshic circadian insights, sleep recommendations (Nidrā Vijñāna), and auspicious time suggestions are provided strictly for cultural, educational, and spiritual enrichment.
- Medical Disclaimer: Doshic biological rhythms and meal timing guidance do not constitute professional medical advice, diagnosis, or clinical prescriptions. Always consult qualified healthcare professionals for medical conditions.
3. Voluntary Offerings & In-App Purchases
Muhūrta is completely free, open-source, and does not restrict any core Vedic or astronomical functionality behind paywalls.
- Voluntary Offerings (Consumables): Offerings such as Dīpa Offering ($4.99), Puṣpa Offering ($9.99), Archana Patron ($24.99), and Temple Benefactor ($99.99) are voluntary, one-time gifts of Dakṣiṇā to support indie development, server ephemeris feeds, and open Vedic research.
- Annual Patronage Subscription: The Annual Seeker Patron ($9.99 / year) is an optional auto-renewing subscription.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing cycle.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time via your iOS device Settings -> Apple ID -> Subscriptions.
- Restoring Purchases: You may restore past voluntary offerings or subscriptions at any time via the "Restore Purchases" button in the app's Contribute & Seva section.
4. User Conduct & Acceptable Use
You agree to use Muhūrta in accordance with all applicable local, national, and international laws. You agree not to reverse engineer or disrupt services in any manner not permitted by the GNU GPLv3 license.
5. Limitation of Liability
Muhūrta and its contributors provide the software on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Under no circumstances shall the author or contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use this software.
