At Muhūrta (accessible via our iOS app and muhurta.shindeaditya.com), we treat your spiritual life and daily routines as an inviolable sanctuary. We are an independent, non-commercial open-source project. We do not sell advertising, do not track users, and do not monetize personal data.
1. The Core Principle: Local On-Device Computing
Unlike conventional astrology apps that send your date, time, and coordinates to remote cloud servers for analysis,Muhūrta performs all astronomical and ephemeris calculations entirely on your physical device using Swift 6 mathematics. Your birth details, Sankalpas, milestones, and daily routines never leave your hardware.
2. Location Information
To determine precise astronomical sunrise, sunset, true solar noon (Madhyāhna), Sandhyā twilight, and lunar tithi transitions, the app requests access to your geographic location (latitude and longitude).
- On-Device Use Only: Your location is queried solely by the local Swiss Ephemeris and solar trigonometric models on your iPhone or iPad.
- Zero Remote Transmission: Coordinates are never transmitted to our servers, logged to analytics systems, or shared with third parties.
- No Background Surveillance: We do not track location in the background. Location is sampled only when the app is actively computing or refreshing ephemeris data.
3. Personal Information & Sacred Milestones
When you create sacred milestones (such as birth tithis, anniversaries, or Saṁskāras):
- Data is stored in local sandboxed storage on your device.
- If synchronization is enabled, records are backed up via your private Apple iCloud container. We have no access to your iCloud account, keys, or records.
4. Voluntary In-App Offerings (StoreKit 2)
Muhūrta is completely free to use. Users may voluntarily offer Dakṣiṇā (tips or annual patronage) to sustain development. All financial transactions are conducted strictly through Apple’s StoreKit 2 API. Muhūrta does not receive, view, or store your credit card, debit card, or billing information. Apple processes all transactions pursuant to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
5. No Advertising & No Third-Party Trackers
Muhūrta contains:
- Zero third-party advertising SDKs (no Google AdMob, no Meta Audience Network).
- Zero behavioral analytics trackers (no Mixpanel, no AppsFlyer, no Firebase Analytics).
- Zero data broker partnerships.
6. Open Source Transparency
Our entire source code is openly published under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPLv3) on GitHub:github.com/heyshinde/Muhurta. Anyone can independently audit the application binary and inspect how location and data are handled.
7. Children's Privacy
Muhūrta is a universal chronometry tool for all ages. We do not knowingly solicit or collect any personal information from children or adults.
